New Blog Feature - WATCH ME GROW!

Since I have so many babies that I get to photograph regularly, I decided it would be fun to feature images from an earlier session and a recent one.  Here's our little birthday princess then and now.  Enjoy!

Sneak Peek for a Birthday Princess (and her Mommy)

Since this little Princess' mommy isn't feeling well, I thought a preview might brighten her day.  I think the GAP image must be her "model face" - she's definitely got the look. :-)

Everyone's too busy to cook...

at least that's what I'm going to assume since I didn't receive any recipes.  So that little contest was a flop.  That's ok... I'm not giving up! :-D   You'd better stay tuned.... the next one might be easier.

Here are some recipes I'll share.  I haven't tried these yet.  The grilled banana sounded fun for kids.  And since Mac's always in charge of the meat, I wanted to find an easy veggie recipe that I could have him throw on the grill too.

GRILLED BANANAS

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 bananas
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh mint (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place whole, unpeeled bananas on grill, turning occasionally until the peel is blackened. Remove stems and skin.
  2. Slice bananas, and serve over vanilla ice cream with mint garnish.

BUNDLE OF VEGGIES

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 ounces whole fresh mushrooms
  • 8 ounces cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cup sliced zucchini
  • 1 tablespoon olive or vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt or salt-free seasoning blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 dash pepper

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place mushrooms, tomatoes and zucchini on a double thickness of heavy-duty foil (about 18 in. square). Combine the remaining ingredients; drizzle over vegetables. Fold the foil around vegetables and seal tightly.
  2. Grill, covered, over medium heat for 20-25 minutes or until tender.

Contest Time!! Favorite Summertime Recipe

How's your summer?  The weather is finally starting to feel like summertime.  Sunny days make me happy... and hungry for something off the grill.  We're doing some improvements and additions to our outdoor living areas and looking forward a great space for cooking and eating outside!

So here's the challenge.  I'm collecting recipes for the grill and other summertime faves.  Email your favorite warm weather recipe by Friday, July 18  and you'll be entered into a drawing for a CELEBRATE SUMMER mini session and a free miniature portrait (drawing to be held at noon on Friday.)  I'll post some of the recipes here on the blog.  Happy grilling!  :-)

The "Senior Season" has arrived...

Sessions for 2009 seniors are filling up fast.  July is full and August only have a few openings.

Here's a couple of favorites from Miranda's session.  This technically isn't a sneak peek as she's already viewed and ordered her portraits, but I still wanted to share.  Thanks for a great session Miranda. :)  I can't wait to see that beautiful canvas portrait!

Naming Your Baby...

It's one of the most difficult, but exciting, tasks expecting parents have.  I mean, this is your child... if they hate their name they'll blame you, right?  As one that was the recipient of an unusual name, I know how frustrating it is to have to spell it all the time.  Most don't pronounce it correctly.  I'm truly never offended though,  it's not their fault my parents named me Lasha.  You'll never find it on a key chain, or one of those little state license plates.  Maybe that's why I named my children some pretty common names... Zachary, Nicholas, Lucas.  No, really, I just loved the names... however, I certainly didn't search for unusual names.  Honestly, I don't remember ever thinking I hate my name, not even in school.  I feel it helps define me.  I love my name... so thanks, Mom and Dad.

Since I have so many clients expecting, and most certainly searching for names... I thought I'd give them a little reading material.  Have fun.  You can even leave me a comment with some of your favorite baby names.

Here's a funny blog entry about celebrity baby names, and an entire blog of celebrity baby names. This one is from the Social Security Administration.  You can look up popular names for a certain year - my name wasn't even on the list for my birth year, surprise!  And here's a few more sites devoted to helping you find the perfect name for your baby.

I can't wait to see if my newest clients will be named Sunday, Daniel, Emma, Christopher, Sophia, Joshua, Emily, Ethan, Madison, Michael, or even... Lasha. ;-)
